John G. Taylor, PhD, M.Ed., MACC, LPC, is an Author, Assistant Professor, Sexuality Educator, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Christian Therapist in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Taylor is currently pursuing his postpartum doula certification.

Dr. Taylor is the host of the Spotify podcast: My Mortality Matters: The Voices and Lives of Black Men.

Dr. Taylor counsels individuals, couples, and families who are dealing with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, relationship issues, domestic violence, sexual violence, and sexual identity.

Dr. Taylor is passionate about educational and public health initiatives that address issues involving Black men and their families. Dr. Taylor works as a liaison for organizations, churches, parents, adults, and adolescents so that constructive conversations about sex and sexuality can occur. Dr. Taylor’s research focuses on the impact of structural violence on the mental health and sexual behavior of Black men.

Dr. Taylor has a Doctor of Philosophy with a concentration in Human Sexuality Studies from Widener University. Dr. Taylor has a Master’s degree in Human Sexuality Studies from Widener University, a Master’s degree in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Fayetteville State University.

 Dr. Taylor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health and Nutrition at La Salle University. He teaches courses that focus on public health issues, race, violence, sexual health, leadership, and health disparities. Dr. Taylor, serves as Vice President of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee, as the liaison between faculty and administration.

Dr. Taylor serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania (Graduate Counseling Program) and Widener University (Human Sexuality Program), teaching courses that focus on sexuality and counseling techniques, sex therapy 1, and practicum supervision. He has served as an adjunct professor at La Salle University (Public Health) and Drexel University (Marriage and Family), teaching courses focused on sexual violence, domestic violence, and sexuality.

Throughout his career, Dr. Taylor has held positions such as Correctional Officer, Probation/ Parole Officer, Domestic Violence Group Facilitator, HIV/AIDS case manager, and drug addiction counselor. These positions have allowed Dr. Taylor to help individuals working through various stages in their lives.

Dr. Taylor has published in various publications. Dr. Taylor is a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHC) and serves as a board member of the Strong Families Commission in Philadelphia.
